Cupcake in Bloom Recipe!!!

Back in December I posted a picture of the Cupcake in Bloom by 1-800-FLOWERS. Here's my recipe for re-creating your own that will last forever!

Ingredients:
Mod Podge
Foam brush
5 Silk Carnation flowers
2-inch Styrofoam balls
2 cupcake liners

Directions:

1. Spread Mod Podge on the bottom of 1 cupcake liner.

2. Place next cupcake liner on top of the painted liner.

3. The next step is to glue the Styrofoam ball in the cupcake liner. I tried this two ways:

a) Pour Mod Podge into cupcake liner about ¼ inch thick and place Styrofoam ball. If you
choose to do it this way it will need to dry overnight.

b) The other way is to paint bottom of cupcake liner with Mod Podge, then paint bottom half of
Styrofoam ball with Mod Podge and place into cupcake liner. Let dry.

4. Once your liners are all dry, you can start inserting the flowers. I cut five silk carnations from the stems, leaving around two inches of stem on the flower. I placed one right in the middle of the ball, then one on each side. Then finish inserting the other two flowers on each side.

5. The next step is inserting the candle. I forgot to buy birthday candles and didn’t have any in the house, so I searched my scrapping supplies and found a cardstock candle sticker. I taped it to the stem of the middle flower for support. If using a real candle I would glue it in the center of the middle flower.

6. Next I made a little banner for my cupcake. I just added “Celebrate” on some scrapbook paper and taped it onto an extra stem from my flowers.

Hope you all enjoy this. Please post a link to your Cupcake in Bloom if you decide to make one, I’d would love to see it!

A New Year!

Wow, I can't believe it's 2009 already! 2008 flew by so fast. The holidays were so nice, I got my 25 days of Christmas album done finally and I'm so happy with the way it turned out. Well, I'm glad in a way that the holidays are over and it's back to the normal routine of life.

There's a couple of things I'd like to share:

1) I'm super excited to be doing Project 365. I love the concept and it will be so cool to look back on all these photos from 2009. I wasn't able to order one of Becky Higgin's kits so I'm making my own. I'm waiting for my album to come in the mail, so I thought I'd put together this photo collage to show everyone my pictures so far.

2) I used Google Picasa to make the above photo collage. I love the program and the best part is it's free! I've always seen these neat photo collages on layouts in the scrapbook magazines and wanted to find out how to do it. They use Adobe Photoshop, so I went on online to price the software and it was way out of my price range. So I did a little investigating and found that with Picasa (http://picasa.google.com/) I can make these photo collages.

3) Another challenge that I'm also excited about is His Holy Name Challenge. Each week an attribute of God is posted. Then you study your Bible and find scriptures that are meaningful to you based on that word or attribute. You can create a card or scrapbook page based on the word or attribute and the scripture you have chosen. If you'd like to check it out click on the His Holy Name blinkie on the right :)
